Cambodia Wildlife Tour Itinerary:
In the early morning around 5am will leave hotel for the local harbor of Prek Toal, 1h drive from Siem Reap Along the way observe local countryside activities, duck & fish farms, ox carts at work, lush rice fields and villages.
On arrival we take our first boat trip to Machrey floating village and Prek Toal village. From here we embark in rowing boats to the bird sanctuary at the Prek Toal core area of the Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve, called “the single most important breeding ground in Southeast Asia for globally threatened large waterbirds.”
The Biosphere covers 31,282 hectares at the northwest tip of the Tonle Sap Lake and plays host to species including Greater and Lesser Adjuncts, Black-headed Ibis, Painted Stork, Milky Stork, Spot-billed Pelican, Grey-Headed Fish Eagle, and many more species.
After our bird watching enjoy a local lunch at Prek Toal village. On the way back to the mainland, the boat will cruise around the floating village with its schools, churches and pagodas.
The final stop is at a Crocodile Farm, home to about 300 crocodiles of various sizes.
You can see the crocodile nests that, at first sight, look much like a pile of dirt. After the 75th day of the incubation period passes, some brave soul waits until mother crocodile goes for a swim, then take the ready-to-hatch eggs to a shaded area where the little ones snap their teeth for the very first time.
