Visit the City of Angkor Thom comprised of the Bayon Temple, Baphoun Temple, Elephant Terrace & Terrace of the Leper King, Enter the city of Angkor Thom through the monumental south gate.
The Elephant Terrace is the heart of Angkor Thom and looks out over the Royal Square. It marks the entrance to the Royal Palace and was the focal point for royal receptions. The carvings of elephants along its walls give its modern name.
The temples of Angkor are among the grandest monuments ever constructed. The entire complex covers approximately 164sq miles with over 200 temples. Among the 30 temples that are accessible today, the most famous is Angkor Wat, the religious building in the world. Conceived by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat took an estimated 37 years to build. Unlike most other Khmer Temples, it faces west,
Phnom Bakheng Hill for sunset in, late 9th century was the State Temple of the first capital of Angkor. The view from the top is magnificent, particularly of Angkor Wat to the Swhich East, and is the most popular spot for visitors at sunset.
II- Day Two Morning Start @ 07H30-08H30 Leaves for the “Jewel” of Angkor, Ba,nteay Srei, and Banteay Samré Temples.
Banteay Srei “Citadel of Women” was not a Royal Temple. It was built not by kings, but by Brahmin priests. Often described in terms as the ‘Jewel of Khmer Art”, Banteay Srei is a temple of great beauty and compares with little else in Angkor. Its miniature scale almost always surprises visitors near-total decoration of its surfaces is exceptional.
Banteay Samré is the of the most complete complexes at Angkor and rewash stored using the archaeological method. The method entails complete deconstruction of the building, numbering of its component part and then painstaking reconstruction.
Ta Phrom or Tomb Raider Temple
Ta Prohm is another of the most impressive temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. The Cambodian jungle has gone to work in consuming the massive temples. Strangler figs have wrapped around the stone structures in such an impressive manner, it’s impossible not to be in awe of Mother Nature. It’s easy to spend at least an hour as the photo possibilities are endless!
Note that the location from the Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie is a popular photo stop

Pick up from your hotel at 08:30 am to transfer to the Phnom Kulen National Park in the Phnom Kulen mountain range, north of Siem Reap.
During the Angkor era, the place was known as Mahendraparvata and it was here in the year 802 that Jayavarman II proclaimed himself King of Kings, an act that is considered the founding act of the Khmer Empire in the 09th century, Phnom Kulen became a Buddhist shrine.
At that time, craftsmen carved the Reclining Buddha in the Preah Ang Thom Pagoda. This is one of the largest reclining Buddhas in the world, carved directly into a mountain rock and uniquely reclining on the left side.
Next you will visit the “River of a thousand lingas“, and the spectacular Phnom Kulen waterfall, where you have the opportunity to take a very special bath.
Lunch at a typical local restaurant in the area.
After lunch we drive from Phnom Kulen Mountain for 1-hour through mountain & jungle scenery to the mysterious Beng Mealea Temple.
Beng Mealea look like it has been just discovered with tree branches, roots, leaves and plants growing within its structure. Not much is known about the history of the temple, but due to its style, it has to be related to Angkor Wat, which is why experts deduce that it was built at the beginning of the 12th century, during the government of King Suryavarman II.
The temple is literally overgrown by the jungle and has been intentionally kept that way so that the state in which it was found is preserved. A wooden walkway makes it easy to access the interior of the temple and you can also visit the moat that surrounds it.

TOUR ITINERARY
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am and drive to the remote archaeological site of Koh Ker Group in northern Cambodia, about 120 kilometers away from Siem Reap. Koh Ker temple is likely to have been the state temple of Khmer King Jayavarman IV. It is vertically oriented in the shape of a pyramid with seven tiers and numerous shrines, all of which combine to create an imposing sight. You'll learn all about the formerly powerful Khmer Empire as you tour the area with your guide and take some picturesque photos. About 300 meters farther to the west is Kampiang or Koh Ker temple. From a distance, the temple looks like a small hill, because it is covered by forest. Up close, however, it is actually a 35-meter-high stupa made of sandstone. It has seven levels, each level about 5 meters above the other. Each deck has a 2-meter-wide terrace, and there is a 55- step staircase to the top. At the top of the temple, there are large statues of garudas supporting Shiva lingam Treypuvanesvara. Nearby, there is a 4-meter square well, now completely covered by grass. According to local villagers, if a coconut is dropped into this well, it will appear in the pond near Neang Khmao temple. There is vegetation growing on top of the temple, and from there, visitors have an excellent view of the surrounding landscape, in particular, Phnom Dangrek, Phnom Tbeng, and the Kulen district. To the north of Koh Ker temple is another temple, Damrei Sar temple, but it is heavily damaged. To the northeast, is Lingam temple. This temple once housed three Shiva lingams, but some are now damaged.
In the afternoon, we will have lunch at the local restaurant before heading to Beng Melea temple, we will stop and discover about O Thmor Dab ‘QUARRY’ the quarry of all temples in Cambodia. You will see the traces of Khmer ancestors cutting the sandstone to build all cutting in the areas. Then we continue to see Beng Melea, the mysterious Temple which is built in the 12th century. It is the one that was invaded by jungle. Beng Mealea was built as a Hindu temple, but some carvings depict Buddhist motifs. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. For years it was difficult to reach, but a road recently built to the temple complex of Koh Ker passes Beng Mealea and more visitors are coming to the site, as it is 77 km from Siem Reap by road.
The history of the temple is unknown and it can be dated only by its architectural style, identical to Angkor Wat, so scholars assumed it was built during the reign of king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Smaller in size than Angkor Wat, the king's main monument, Beng Mealea nonetheless ranks among the Khmer empire's larger temples: the gallery which forms the outer enclosure of the temple is 181 m by 152 m. It was the center of a town, surrounded by a moat 1025 m by 875 m large and 45 m wide.
This temple is heavily overgrown with vegetation, trees, lianas, and mosses. This temple is the most ruined stone temple in Angkor Park, as well as one of the largest temples on a grand scale in this historic site. We'll take you back to your hotel and say goodbye to your guide and driver.
